About
Fees and Insurance
I am a therapist because I enjoy working with people.
However, it is also the way I make my living.
Professional relationships work best when client and
professional have a shared understanding about financial
issues.
For the past twenty years, most people have partly funded
therapy with health insurance. This system has worked
reasonably well, but it is important to understand recent
changes that have an effect on your
privacy and control.
Because of changes in health insurance programs, using
benefits for therapy may lead to new problems and highlight
some long standing ones. Before you make a decision, please
consider both sides. Unfortunately, it has become a
complicated question. As a matter of policy, I do not
accept insurance, though you may use your receipt from
therapy to submit to your insurance company for
reimbursement.
