Steve sees small children only in the context of their family. He treats latency-aged children and adolescents, but also works with them in their family context. Family therapy is a powerful modality for finding the strength in each family for dealing with a problem or issue. Often the identified patient (frequently a child) is only symptomatic of the fact that more functional and structural changes need to occur in the family at large.
Family therapy can include anyone influential in the family and is not merely limited to the nuclear family. Steve conducts family therapy sessions with respect for family tradition, ethnic differences, and family privacy.
